Hawagala Mountain
This amazing mountain is located in the southern foothills a
little off Belihuloya, Hawagala is a stunning majestic mountain that gives one
of the finest viewpoints in Sri Lanka. Surrounded by the neighboring mountains Adara
Kanda, NonPareil estate, Horton Plains and Dethanagala
, Hawagala gives a splendid
view of the lush surroundings in the region of Sabaragamuwa. Even though the
trek to the summit can be hard, the amazing views are worth the climb!

How to get there via Public Transport?
Assuming you are starting the journey from Colombo, one must
take the 99 Bus (Colombo-Badulla) and get down at Belihuloya. The bus ticket
may cost around 170-300 LKR depending on the type of bus you get into (Either
SLTB, Normal or Semi Luxury Buses). After getting down at Belihuloya you have
to get into Balangoda-Laduyaya Bus and get down at laduyaya, the trail head to
Hawagala starts near the shop closer to the bus stand. Once you get down at
Laduyaya ask a local and he’ll happily point you towards the trail head.
